The owners have owned the house since the 80 ‘s, it has welcomed possibly hundreds of Wellingtonians home over many decades, all after a walk up from the city, arriving at this fabulous site, to enjoy a chat over a cuppa or a brew, overlooking the city and its magic light.

Occupying a prominent place in the Mt Victoria city-scape, we were asked to design a relaxed, light and colourful home that will endure for another 120 years. The original verandah has been re-envisaged to allow owners and friends to share time enjoying the late sun out of the wind and rain. It also works hard as an internal “street” connecting the living spaces, night and day. 

The proposed design is a three bedroom house with connections to small outdoor spaces whilst maintaining a reserved and familiar street appearance. The home supports the neighbourhood with an attractive piece of urban fabric and planting to areas available.
