DAYS BAY CHANGING SHED
Judges commented, “the old changing rooms have been revitalised with a contemporary, sculptural interior intervention. It has created a focus toward the public beach while respecting and enhancing the shell of the old building.”
An iconic waterfront building that was crumbling in disrepair, the alterations to the Days Bay Changing Sheds have given new life to this beachside amenity while retaining its essential character.
The existing building structure has been kept intact, with new larger doorways enhancing access and the public sense of security. A timber deck now wraps around the building, inset boulders and an outdoor shower for bathers.
