On a spectacular island peninsula near Auckland, we were invited to create a cabana and pool and nestle them into the edge of a cliff.
Working closely with the owners of the land, we explored the Maori and European history of the site along with the rugged beauty and the nature of the flaura and fauna. The curved infinity pool reflects the cloudscape bridge the gap between the land, the water and the sky.
The cabana is a welcome refuge from the sun and provides an excellent platform for gazing out to the weather and horizon beyond. Four recycled totora posts form the heart of this space. Carved by a local artist, they wordlessly communicate local legends.
Whether relaxing by the fire or swimming under the stars, living on the edge has never been so wonderful.
Your turn to dive in.
